Frequently Asked Questions
The Basics
Life / Career Coaching
Relationship / Sex Coaching
1. What is coaching?
Coaching is a practice aimed at helping you articulate and reach your
goals and dreams. Coaches can act as sounding boards, motivators and a
safe third party to give you honest feedback. Coaching is not like
therapy that can focus more on examining the past but instead works by
looking to the future. Most people could use a little push in the right
direction and that is what a coach can be for you. Whether you need to
make a big or a little change in your life, a coach can be there with
you helping you feel safe taking the steps.
Coaches can help provide motivation, inspiration, challenge, accountability and support to help you achieve specific results in your life.

2. How do I choose the right coach for me?
Choosing the right coach is like choosing the right personal trainer.
You want to find the right mix of personality and motivational skills
that work best for you. By reading through your potential coach's
website and bio, talking to them for free before signing up or even
experiencing your first few paid sessions with them will help you
determine if your coach meshes well with your your needs. As a coach I
like to find out as much about my client's personality type as
possible, from the beginning, so that we can determine the most
appropriate plan for your learning style.

3. What are the benefits of coaching?
Having a coach can provide enormous benefits to your life. It's amazing
how much more we can accomplish by having a person to bounce ideas off
of or keep us on the right track. If you're looking to reach some
business, life or relationship goals, consider a coach as your mental
personal trainer. A coach can help you honestly deal with that little
nagging voice that tells you to put something off for the time being.

Life coaching
1. Why might I need a life coach?
There are many reasons why your life could benefit from working with a
coach. You may be thinking of switching careers, starting a new
business, having children or a whole heap of other possibilities. It
can be hard to undertake life changes, big or small. Family, friends
and lovers will usually offer support but sometimes what we need is an
unbiased outsider, someone that will offer opinions and suggestions
that can help us articulate and / or reach our goals.

2. Am I a failure for needing a life coach?
Not at all. Consider the idea of going to the gym. Many people go on
their own and achieve great results, and yet personal trainers still
have lots of clients. Just like a personal trainer can push you that
much harder during your exercise routine towards reaching your goals, a
coach can do the same for the rest of your life. There is no right or
wrong way to motivate oneself and if coaching works for you, then why
not?

3. What are the challenges I will face?
As a life coaching client, you are ultimately responsible for your own
success. Your coach is there to assist you but it is up to you to get
your feet wet. While coaching you may discover stumbling blocks from your past that
require further assistance from a therapist or counselor outside of
what a coach can offer you.

Relationship Coaching
1. What type of relationships might benefit from coaching?
Before anyone considers coaching as a solution to relationship
troubles, you must first ask yourself if you are ready to make a change
or at least admit that you might need one. Coaching is a process that
will help you accomplish goals but it works much better if everyone
involved is on board!
For those interested in dating, a coach can help you grow the confidence you need to find the person or people right for you.

2. Intimacy is hard for me. Should I / we hire a therapist instead?
Hiring a therapist is a personal choice that can be very beneficial for many people and it may be the right route for you. When coaching we will be working towards reaching your relationship goals and will constantly be evaluating whether or not there is more happening behind the scenes that is restricting you from success.

3. What is non-monogamy / polyamory?
Non-monogamy is becoming more common nowadays as people adopt practices from the swinging 60's and 70's into their modern relationships in a variety of ways from live-in additional partners, to visiting swing clubs. Navigating this lifestyle can be challenging as ingrained social behaviours can cause jealousy and inner conflict. Samantha has experience living in a successful open marriage and can help you learn the communication skills you need to succeed.
